Peter and Rachael plan to marry on Friday, July 10th, 2015 at Darrows Historic Barn at Round Top Farm. The ceremony will be simple and outdoors (provided the weather is sunny.) Following the ceremony we will gather in Darrows Barn for pizza and salad. There will be wine and beer and dancing after dinner.
Please wear comfortable shoes (for dancing) and airy clothing suited to mid-summer heat.
Our Venue: Darrows Barn in Damariscotta, Maine, a historic structure, is owned and operated by the Damariscotta River Association, an organization that works to “preserve and promote the natural, cultural and historical heritage of the Damariscotta River and adjacent areas for the benefit of all.”
Our Pastor: Reverent Scott Kershner, Peter and Rachael’s dear friend and former Holden Village pastor, currently serves as the chaplain at Susquehanna University in Selinsgrove, PA. In the three years they’ve known Scott, Rachael and Peter have come to love him for his gentleness, wisdom, and passion for thoughtful conversation. Peter and Rachael were so excited about the possibility of Scott officiating their wedding that they asked Scott about it during a visit to his home in November, two weeks prior to their official engagement.
Our Food: Harvest Moon Pizza, Harvest Moon makes pizza for farmers’ market and other community events. They are known for using the finest and freshest local ingredients and for emphasizing the relationship between the farms that source their meat, milk, wheat, and vegetables and the pizzas they make. Their providers include several farms where Peter and Rachael have volunteered and the family of one Rachael’s students.
Our Music: Sassafras Stomp, a “sweet-high energy folk band” consisting of Adam and Johanna, two farmers’ who spend their summers on the bank of the Sandy River in western-central Maine growing organic vegetables and their winters out west touring the country as musicians.
